Please note that as of 2019 I have permanently relocated to South Lakes in
Cumbria and am now based near Ulverston.
I have been tuning throughout Cumbria for over 35 years and have wished to
live there for a while so am delighted to be a permanent resident owner of
a 16th Century property we renovated during
2017/18.
The majority of my work is now at the RNCM
in Manchester, with the Halle Orchestra,
Rossall
School (now an “All Steinway School”) and a select few music festivals
that I remain keen to support.
Long term regular customers are still
able to request my services but I will only exceptionally now take on new
customers.
Regretfully I am now struggling to
recommend a competent tuner in many areas that I formerly worked in.
However, during the pandemic, I have personally trained 2 new piano
technicians - one now working with me in Manchester and another person from
North Lancashire. The former, Wyn Chan, is doing exceptionally well and is
assured of a successful career in this profession. The more local tuner is
well on the way to being able to backfill for the customers I no longer
service.
I am also now an examiner in piano
tuning for the Piano Tuners
Association.

Autumn 2012
Appointed to the position of Head of Piano Technical services at the Royal Northern College of
Music, the premier conservatoire in the North of England.
This prestigious part time role includes responsibilty
for the maintenance of the extensive premium piano stock at the RNCM (127
Steinway and Yamaha pianos) in four public venues, studios, teaching and
practice rooms.
The piano stock is all relatively new - less than 7 years old - and
includes 2 fine Steinway model D grands and a Yamaha CFIIIs concert grand,
played in performance by the world's most discerning and
well-respected pianists.
The commitment to the RNCM, which is predominatly
during term time, still allows me to fulfill my
appointments to my exisiting and new private
customers in the Lancashire region.

Yamaha's piano technician in sole charge of the maintenance and preparation
of the Yamaha CFX concert grand at the James Mottram International Piano Competition
to be held at the RNCM. James Mottram International Piano Competition 2012
It was rewarding to be involved in the James Mottram International Piano
Competition in November 2012,at the RNCM but
working on behalf of Yamaha to prepare their wonderful CFX concert grand
piano for the competitors and for the Masterclasses which were given by a
distinguished jury, including Pascal Roge. Hiro Misuno
